Certain vehicles made by GM can lose engine power, leading to the loss of power steering, power braking. These incidents are the result of a faulty ignition switch that can move from the “run” position if the keyring is carrying added weight and experiences some sort of jarring event, such as a large bump in the road.

The defect exists in the following model year vehicles:

  • Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 2000-2005
  • Chevrolet Malibu, 1997-2003
  • Chevrolet Malibu Classic, 2004-2005
